~A Day with~

vaneollus-indicus

aka Red wattled lapwing – what a wonderful bird, she has this ‘red strip facial skin & black tipped red bill, cold sandy greyish brown with whitish remainder of underparts’..describe by Craig Robson.
I went looking for this bird (one of my earlier outing) and I was ready to be a mime statue cause this bird is really shy – my work is to photograph the ‘taking off’ flight from the lapwing. Their long legs make it a beautiful ‘take off’ expression yeah?! If possible but impossible task also the landing…ahem! well anything can happen right?!

For my first learning task: the canon 1D mark III is the ‘Al Servo AF’ and FPS (frame per sec.) and the lapwings bird is my ‘lifer’. Before this I will have to experience stalking the bird, well – learning their behavior first, then click click..yeah sound easy! Never did i realize that I found them – nesting! arrrh!
You cant approach birds that are nesting – rightly you should leave them alone unless you are doing a study of the birds – am I having that right?….neh! but since I was there I did my best not to startle them, to do that I’ve to move like a tortoise – imagine the bird staring at me like I am one funny looking animal. anyway wasn’t able to do what i came for – for now…yeah!…hehehe:
